Visit the New Milford Barn Quilt Trail by bicycle
New Milford is the first town in the State of Connecticut to have a Barn Quilt Trail. There are currently eight participating farms. More information about the trail, the quilts and the history of agriculture in the northwest corner of our state can be found here.
If you would like to explore the trail by bicycle, here is a suggested route:
This is actually a very nice ride that includes 4 scenic dirt roads, and a gradual climb to Ridge Road. The only downside is it requires about 3 miles on Rt 202 in order to visit Sullivan Farm and the barn next to Papermill Rd. But the shoulder on that stretch of 202 is pretty wide and the road was recently repaved. If somebody wants to make a loop out of this, we suggest starting at Town Hall and heading to the Smyrski Farm using Wellsville Ave (after the bridge reopens) and Merryall Road.
